Genuary 2022 (Prints)

Genuary is a generative art challenge that takes place every year. Participants use a daily prompt to “build code that makes beautiful things” (in the words of its co-ordinators). Alex used it to delve into isometric perspective, colour palette algorithms and recursive functions. His code (computer programming) works with a library that mixes hand-made and coded-created imagery. Everything is original and created by Alex Russell. Each run of the code creates a unique, one-off artwork.
Alex developed five of the prompts once the month was over: “10,000 of something, “Destroy a square”, “Architecture”, “Sea of shapes” and “Negative space”. The code is written in Processing, running on a PC powered by electricity from 100% sustainable sources.

All prints are archive quality, professionally giclée printed in the UK on acid-free, museum paper. Alex Russell hand-signs each one.
