What sort of art is it?

Each artwork is a one-off print, a piece of generative art and creative code. Created by a unique run of code, every one is an original, hand-signed by Alex Russell. Only one version of each will ever be sold. The code is run on a computer powered by electricity from 100% sustainable sources.
The prints are professionally gicleé printed in the UK using archival, museum-quality ink and paper.

How are the artworks packaged?

All prints are placed in acid-free cellophane bags, then put inside secure, environmentally-responsible cardboard packaging. Prints up to and including A3 (c. 30 cm x 42 cm) are packed flat. Larger prints are rolled and sent in a tube. If you order more than one print, they will ship together using the largest packing size (so if you order an A4 one and an A2 one, they’ll be sent in a tube).
Prints are supplied unframed.

How much is shipping? How does it work?

Shipping costs are given on each artwork’s individual page. Once in your basket, costs should automatically appear in the total. If they don’t, they will once you’ve put in your shipping address on the checkout page. If you order more than one print, the cost will be as for single-most expensive shipping (so if you order an A4 print and an A3 print, the shipping cost will be as for a single A3 one).
Postage is tracked, insured and requires a signature on delivery (or Covid-safe equivalent).
In the UK, please allow about 7 to 10 days for delivery. Elsewhere, please allow 14 to 21 days (customs clearance may take longer). Some artwork is printed to order and may take a little longer. In all cases, Alex will do his best to get it to you as soon as possible.
Please note that customers outside the UK are liable for any additional taxes, duties or customs fees that may be charged by their country.

Why does a timer appear when I put something in my basket?

There’s only one of each artwork. To prevent issues with prints being left un-bought in baskets and hence not on general sale, you have 20 minutes to checkout once you’re put something in your basket (cart). After this time, the item will be removed and put back on sale.
If someone puts a print in their basket, other visitors will be aware (anonymously) of this, and how long it’s been there for.

How do I pay?

You can pay with any valid credit/debit cards or by PayPal.
PayPal process all orders, securely handling all card or other payment transaction data. You don’t need a PayPal account for this. If there are any issues with your payment, please contact your card issuer, bank or PayPal.

What happens after payment?

When you buy something, you’ll get an email confirming the sale. When the item ships, you’ll get another email with the tracking details and estimated delivery time. If you don’t get either of these, please check your spam folder before contacting Alex Russell.

My print has arrived and it’s been damaged during shipping. What should I do?

Email Alex with 30 days of receipt (ideally, as quickly as possible). Please attach photos of the damage to the email, including shots of both the packaging and the print. Alex will get in touch to sort everything out.

What is the returns policy?

Before notification (email) that your order has shipped:
You can cancel your order, provided it is within 14 days of placing the order. Email to say you want a refund. Your money will be returned within 14 days of receipt of your email.
After the order has shipped:
You can return the order provided you email Alex to say you want to cancel. Send it back: you can use the original packing, but you will need to pay postage. You are responsible for safe return of the goods. If Alex receives your return within 14 days of you getting it and the print is as new, your money will be returned within 14 days.

How do I care for my artwork?

All artworks use archive quality inks on acid-free paper. Treated carefully, they will last a lifetime. As with any artwork, it’s best to keep them out of direct sunlight and away from any dampness or water. Framing is very highly recommended. The print has sufficient margins for this to be straightforward. If you’re storing the artwork, or keeping it safe prior to framing, it’s a good idea to keep it in the cellophane bag that it comes in.

I’ve missed out on buying artwork in the size I wanted. Will more become available?

All artwork series can be commissioned at any size, so get in touch if you want something in a size that isn’t available. New artworks are added to the shop on a regular basis. If you would like to get notifications of when this will happen, follow Alex on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Can I buy artwork in other sizes? What about prints on other surfaces?

Generative art and creative code pieces can be created for any size of output. If you would like to commission artwork to a bespoke size, please contact Alex directly.
ApeiroPattern artwork can be printed on any surface or substrate. Again, let Alex know what you want and he’ll sort out the printing with you.

The copyright to all generative art and creative code remains with Alex Russell. They cannot not be used for any commercial purposes.
If you are interested in commissioning Alex’s work for commercial use, please get in touch. He is happy to discuss the licensing of ApieroPattern artwork, or the creation of bespoke code.
